Context

The educational system in Germany is differentiated and makes strict distinctions between vocational and academic education. All state and private schools have to apply the rules and regulations of their respective 16 constituent states ("Länder") of the Federal Republic of Germany.
There is a distinct change within vocational and academic education all over Europe and especially in Germany. In Bologna in 1999, EU member states proposed the creation of a new system which makes it easier and more understandable to compare similar educational and professional certificates: Bachelor and Master´s degrees.

The aim was to strengthen the bond between vocational and academic education. Students all over Europe should be able to study under the same criteria and similar circumstances and receive equivalent support and benefits in whichever country they undergo their studies. b.i.b. is also supporting this process. It is a major aim of b.i.b to maintain a close link between academic and vocational education and to add further internationally acknowledged qualifications.
